John has been licensed to practice law in the State of Texas since 1974. He became Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1986. John has practiced many types of law in his long legal career, including criminal defense, but has focused primarily on family law since about 1980. John has extensive experience in the courtroom, including long records of both bench trials (trials to a judge) and jury trials.John grew up in Waco, Texas, and graduated from Baylor University (cum laude—with honors) with a Bachelor Degree of Science in Physics in 1970. He served in the U.S. National Guard before attending law school at the University of Texas. He received his law degree from UT in 1974. During his career, John has primarily been known as a litigator for high-conflict cases. John is now focusing primarily on mediation. John is certified in Civil Mediation and Advanced Family Law Mediation. John continues to provide the firm with his wisdom, experience, and expertise by preparing clients for court and strategizing with the team.
John is a member of the Travis County Family Law Advocates. He is admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court.
